On September 11, 2025, Governor Josh Green extended rent protections for Maui renters impacted by the August 2023 Lahaina fire. Rent increases remain prohibited, ensuring housing stability for affected families. This measure helps prevent displacement, supports community recovery, and reinforces the importance of renters’ rights in rebuilding lives and maintaining security.

Maui Housing Hui is hosting a Renter’s Rights Training on September 23rd, aimed at providing practical knowledge to renters, landlords, and community members. The event focuses on fostering understanding of rights and responsibilities, building strong relationships, and ensuring housing stability for families, ultimately benefiting the entire Maui community. Free dinner and childcare are provided.
