Free Renter’s Rights Training in Kihei

Maui Housing Hui invites you to join us for an upcoming Renter’s Rights Training at ProArts Playhouse in Kihei on Wednesday, April 1st from 5:00–7:00 PM.

We know this has been a heavy time for many in our community. With the recent severe flooding adding to an already challenging period, many families are navigating uncertainty, stress, and difficult decisions. While this training is not focused on disaster response, it is designed to provide clear, reliable information about your rights as a renter—something that can help bring a bit more stability in unpredictable times.

What This Training Covers

This session will walk through the fundamentals of renter protections in Hawaiʻi, including:

  • Understanding your lease and legal rights
  • Navigating rent increases and notices
  • Repairs, maintenance, and landlord responsibilities
  • What to do if issues arise

Whether you’re a renter trying to better understand your protections, or a landlord who wants to do things the right way, this training is built to be practical, accessible, and grounded in real-life situations.

A Space for Learning and Community

We aim to create a welcoming environment where people can ask questions, learn together, and leave feeling more informed and confident. Housing can be complicated—and at times overwhelming—but having accurate information is a powerful tool.

To make it easier to attend, free dinner and childcare will be provided.
