Last night’s Renter’s Rights Training was one of our best! We had a solid turnout with lots of new faces in attendance, which tells us that more and more Maui residents are eager to learn about their rights and resources.

One of the highlights of the evening was the opportunity for attendees to get answers to their specific housing questions. Whether renters were dealing with lease issues, security deposits, or eviction concerns, our team was able to provide guidance tailored to their unique situations. We also had some landlords in attendance, which we always welcome—because at the end of the day, a stable rental market benefits everyone.
The night featured some great discussions, especially about assistance animals and what renters and landlords need to know about them. We also discussed some expectations if you end up in court—an important topic that helps renters feel more prepared in case they ever find themselves facing legal housing challenges.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Maui Housing Hui event without delicious tacos from Pinatas in Kahului 🌮 and a fun-filled evening for the keiki! Our childcare service meant that any parents that attended could fully engage in the training while their little ones enjoyed plenty of playtime.

For those who couldn’t make it in person, our Instagram live stream was a great way for community members to tune in remotely—something we’re excited to keep exploring as a way to make our trainings more accessible.
We’re already looking forward to next month’s event! While the date and location are still TBD, we’ve heard your feedback about switching up the venue and will do our best to make that happen.
📢 Stay tuned! Check back here on our website and follow us on Instagram and Facebook for updates on our next Renter’s Rights Training and other important ways to get involved.
Mahalo to everyone who joined us—your presence, questions, and engagement make all the difference! 💛🏡✨
