This week we held an Ohana Renter’s Picnic at the Cameron Center. Our goal was to make ourselves available to the community in a casual, comfortable space to talk story and have a meal. We always provide food and childcare at our events to make it easy to for families and friends to attend.

Those who came to the picnic also received information on a variety of community resources to help ease the stress and burdens many renters experience. Maui Housing Hui put together a handout answering the most common questions we get from renters as well.

On July 30th we will be holding another event at the Cameron Center. This time we will be holding a training to discuss renter’s rights. We hear quite often that there is a lot of conflicting information and we’d like to help renters get informed on what rights they do have so they can advocate for themselves when necessary.
